SHe-Box Compliance: A Supreme Court Mandate Before June 30,2025

SHe-Box POSH compliance

In a crucial ruling in December 2024, the Supreme Court intensified its stance by mandating every organization to implement and actively utilize the Sexual Harassment Electronic Box (the SHe-Box) portal. By this, it aims to strengthen the response mechanism to sexual harassment at workplaces while reinforcing the broader objective of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (the POSH Act.)

What is SHe-Box Portal?

The SHe-Box is a government-operated online platform that allows women to file complaints of workplace sexual harassment. These complaints are then forwarded to the appropriate Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) or Local Complaints Committee (LCC) for enquiry.

If you are running an organization with 10 or more employees, here’s a step-by-step compliance guide that will not only help avoid penalties but will create a safe and respectful workplace to walk in.

Register Your Organization on the She-Box Portal

Step 01: Access the She-Box portal: https://shebox.wcd.gov.in/

Step 02: Select Private Head Office Registration on the homepage

Step 03: To register your Head Office on the portal, select the Proceed button.

Step 04: Now, enter/select the following Head Office Organization’s details:

  1. Legal and the entire name of your company or organization
  2. The state, district, and sub-district where your head office is located
  3. The correct PIN code
  4. An official contact mobile number
  5. An official email ID (Note that it will be used for login purposes.)

Ensure that all the required fields (*) are filled correctly before proceeding.

Step 05: Enter/select the following Officer’s details:

  1. The complete name of the She-Box Portal Nodal Officer

Who is a Nodal Officer?

A Nodal officer is a central point of contact who ensures:

  • All POSH-related activities are tracked
  • SHe-Box data is updated accurately
  • Compliance, which enhances the company’s reputation
  1. Officer’s Job Title (e.g., HR Manager, Compliance Officer)
  2. Mobile Number of the Nodal Officer
  3. Official Email ID
  4. Add a STD code or Landline Number, if applicable
  5. Select the State, District, and Sub-District, where the Nodal Officer is based (generally it is the same as the Head Office)
  6. Correct PIN Code of the Nodal Officer’s location
  7. Address of the Nodal Officer (generally it is the same as the Head Office)

Step 06: Upload any one of the following documents in PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, or PNG format.

  1. Company Registration Certificate
  2. GST Number
  3. Company PAN Card

Important: If you have more than one document, make sure to combine them into one file before uploading.

Step 07: Enter the Captcha and select Submit.

Verification by the District Nodal Officer

The District Nodal Officer reviews the submitted information and approves or rejects the request based on the available data.

If the registration is approved, the Nodal Officer receives an auto-generated email on their registered email ID that contains the login credentials for the She-Box portal.

SHe-Box portal, Post-registration Updates

After registration, the Nodal Officer can log in to the SHe-Box portal using the login details provided in the email.

Once logged in, the Nodal Officer can update the following details to the portal through the private Head Office NO Dashboard:

  1. Internal Committee (viz., IC Chairman and other members) details
  2. Sub-offices or branch offices details
  3. Annual Report
  4. Orientation Programmes, Capacity/Skill Building Programmes, and Seminars details
  5. Awareness/ Sensitization programmes details.

Chairperson Login to the SHe-Box portal

Once the Head Office Nodal Officer enters the IC details into the portal, the Chairperson receives an official email with login credentials to access and review complaints through the Private Chairperson Dashboard.

The SHe-Box portal allows for managing and monitoring the complaints closely and effectively.
